Steven Neel is our Lead Pastor. He is married to Nancy Jane (Puckett). They have five children, Annie, James, Ashley, Francine, and Sami. Steve sensed a call to ministry in his early teens. He preached his first sermon at Linton United Methodist Church, 1980.
Steve graduated from Trigg County High School in 1982, Studied at Western Kentucky University, and graduated from Austin Peay State University in 1992. He served one year in the United States Air Force, 1987. He received his MDiv. from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1996. He was ordained deacon in 1994 and as an elder in 1998 in the Kentucky Conference of the United Methodist Church.
Steven enjoys running, gardening, backpacking, and playing video games. His life verse that guides him daily is Proverbs 3:5-6. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”
Jamus Redd is our Assistant Pastor. He is married to our youth director, Kendra. They have three children, Caroline, Elizabeth, and Ivey. His parents are J. Rodman and Hiler Redd. Jamus has served Cadiz UMC in this capacity since 2015. Jamus sensed a call to ministry as a young boy and was encouraged to ministry by Dr. Hilda Bentley, former Assistant Pastor at Cadiz UMC. He first served Lafayette UMC in 2006 and was then sent to Fairview UMC in Lyon County from 2007-2015. Rev. Scott Wilson asked Jamus to join the staff in 2015.
Jamus grew up in Cadiz UMC and graduated from Trigg County High School in 1990, Harvard College in 1994, and the University of Kentucky Law School in 1997. He received his MDiv. from Asbury Theological Seminary in 2018. Jamus also serves as District Judge for Caldwell, Livingston, Lyon, and Trigg counties. Jamus is grateful to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to be able to serve at Cadiz UMC. As our Assistant Pastor, he helps wherever he is needed, but he particularly feels called to teaching and pastoral care. He also teaches the Wesley Sunday School class, helps with the organization of our soccer league, and drives the bus for youth trips.
